A hyperlink, or simply a link, is a reference to data that the reader can directly follow either by clicking, tapping, or hovering. The term “hyperlink” was coined in 1965 (or possibly 1964) by Ted Nelson. Tim Berners-Lee saw the possibility of using hyperlinks to link any information to any other information over the Internet.
